The Ariella Horenstein
The House of Healing at Duke: A beautifully furnished home with 2 suites of 2 bedrooms each. The home provides families with all the comforts of their own home. Equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, linen and laundry, computer, DVD player, comfortable furniture, and Jewish books and other religious necessities, the hospitality suite is truly a place of comfort for families in their time of need.
Volunteer Services: Bikur Cholim Society of Duke University assigns each family with a friendly community point person during their stay. This person will coordinate or will assist them with any of their physical and logistical needs, including travel, shopping, child-care and food. S/he will also provide support and assistance to the family during their stay, whether it is someone to talk to or visiting with the patient to give the family time to rest. The family coordinator will work closely with a team of English and Hebrew speaking students who are eager to connect with visiting families and assist them in any way possible.
Guided by an advisory board made up of parents and family members that have been at Duke medical center in the past, the Ariella Horenstein Bikur Cholim Society of Duke University strives to provide individualized attention, comfort and security to patients and their loved ones during their time of need.
